Track & Field: North Callaway girls qualify for sectionals in four events

CENTRALIA, Mo. - The North Callaway Ladybirds moved on to sectional competition in four events after finishing seventh as a team at the Class 3, District 4 championships Saturday.

In the boys' division, North Callaway advanced to sectionals in three events and placed 11th as a team in District 4.

The top four finishers in each event will compete this Saturday in the Sectional 2 championships at Montgomery County High School.

Freshman Daelyn Schmauch prevailed in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meters with times of 5 minutes, 23.14 seconds and 12:17.93, respectively, on Saturday as the North Callaway girls posted 51 points. Junior Reyna Schmauch also came in third in the 3,200 (12:33.95).

Daelyn and Reyna Schmauch partnered with senior Jaclyn McMurtry and junior Kyla Bertschinger to win the 3,200 relay in 10:13.28. Junior Abreille Berry placed fourth in the shot put (35 feet, 8 inches).

Junior Tanner Pezold was second in the javelin (143-7) and sophomore Paden Lewis came in second in the shot put (45-11) as the North Callaway boys finished with 41 points. The Thunderbirds' quartet of senior Levi Gilman, juniors Davian Locastro and D'Anthony Kemp, and freshman Bradley Berry took fourth (:46.81).
