Boys' Golf: Withers tied for fourth at Class 1 championships

BOLIVAR, Mo. - New Bloomfield senior Gannon Withers shot a 5-over par 77 and shared fourth place after Monday's first round of the Class 1 state championships at Silo Ridge Golf and Country Club.

A four-time state qualifier, Withers was tied with New Covenant Academy's Dakota Prewitt. Both players were three shots behind Bloomfield's Peyton Bell, who was in first place with a 74.

Gallatin's Jett Simmons sat in second place with a 75 and La Plata's Logan Smith was third with a 76.

Meanwhile, South Callaway senior Blake Parker produced a 14-over 83 and was in a five-way tie for 24th place after one round in the Class 2 state championships at Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa. Parker is a two-time state qualifier.

Bishop LeBlond's Brooks Jungbluth owned first place with a 2-under 67.
