Girls' Basketball: Eldon 70, Fulton 42

The Fulton Lady Hornets dropped a non-conference game to the Eldon Lady Mustangs Monday night at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium.

Fulton (1-11) trailed 26-7 after the first quarter and faced a 42-19 deficit at halftime. Eldon outscored the Lady Hornets 17-12 in the third period to extend its advantage to 59-31.

Senior guard Dionne Vaughn led Fulton with 12 points and eight assists, while junior guard Shawnie Hempfield came up with 10 points and 12 rebounds.

"We were a different team tonight, we came out with an 'attack' attitude," Fulton head coach TJ Quick said. "We said, 'Enough is enough,' after the Battle game (a 62-16 loss on Thursday) and you could tell that we've had enough. We want to come out here, play well and play aggressive in front of our home fans and we did that tonight."

Taylor Pehle directed Eldon with a game-high 33 points and Macie Halderman provided 20.

Fulton lost the junior varsity game 44-34. Sophomore forward Destri Dungan paced the Lady Hornets (0-5) with 17 points and 18 rebounds.

Fulton hosts a non-conference game against Owensville at 6 p.m. Friday.
