Fourth-quarter rally lifts Wildcats over Wellsville

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - The New Bloomfield Wildcats outscored Wellsville 27-19 in the fourth quarter to come away with a 75-69 non-conference win against the Wellsville Tigers on Monday night.

New Bloomfield (9-6) trailed 18-16 after the first quarter, but outscored Wellsville 17-12 in the second period to take a 33-30 halftime lead. The Tigers outscored the Wildcats 20-15 in the third period to take a 50-48 advantage.

"We had turnovers early in the game, but we figured out their press in the fourth quarter," New Bloomfield head coach Tim Gilmore said. "We all stepped up and did a good job breaking their press."

Junior forward Jak Kitchens directed the Wildcats with a game-high 25 points. Junior guard Nick Hammann and sophomore guard Andrew Powell produced 12 points apiece.

Seth Oliver led Wellsville with 20 points, while Jacob Ussery provided 18 and Adam Maylee put up 10.

New Bloomfield plays a Show-Me Conference game at Linn at 6 p.m. Friday.
