Girls' Basketball: Moberly 59, Fulton 33

The Fulton Lady Hornets dropped a North Central Missouri Conference game to the Moberly Lady Spartans at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium on Monday night.

Fulton (3-20, 1-10 NCMC) - which previously lost to the Lady Spartans 46-34 on Jan. 27 in Moberly - trailed 16-8 after the first quarter, but cut the deficit to 22-20 at halftime. Moberly outscored the Lady Hornets 18-7 in the third period to stretch its lead to 40-27.

The Lady Spartans knocked down five of their six 3-pointers in the second half.

"I thought it was a tale of two halves," Fulton head coach TJ Quick said. "We were aggressive in the first half and got to the free-throw line.

"In the third, they pressured us more, doubled the ball and we turned it over. We couldn't get looks inside and didn't shoot well from outside."

Senior guard Dionne Vaughn led the Lady Hornets with 16 points and eight rebounds.

Sidney Flood paced Moberly with a game-high 20 points.

Fulton (0-12) lost the junior varsity game 40-22. Sophomore forward Destri Dungan directed the Lady Hornets with eight points and 10 rebounds.

Fulton plays an NCMC game at Kirksville at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Lady Hornets beat Kirksville 46-43 on Feb. 13 in Fulton.
