Girls' Basketball: Fulton 46, Kirksville 43

The Fulton Lady Hornets took down the Kirksville Lady Tigers at Roger D. Davis Gymnasium on Monday night to pick up their first North Central Missouri Conference win of the season.

Fulton (3-18, 1-8 NCMC) led 18-13 after the first quarter and maintained a 23-22 advantage at halftime. Both teams scored 11 points in the third period as the Lady Hornets held onto a 34-33 lead.

Senior guard Dionne Vaughn paced Fulton with 21 points, four assists and four steals, while sophomore guard Mattie Arnold came up with 10 points and eight rebounds.

"We leaned on Dionne a lot in the first half and in the second half, Kirksville tried to stop her," Fulton head coach TJ Quick said. "We were able to work the ball as a team and find the open man. We got a lot more people involved offensively in the second half and that is going to be key for us."

Fulton (0-10) lost the junior varsity game 42-38. Sophomore forward Destri Dungan recorded a double-double - 18 points, 20 rebounds - to lead the Lady Hornets.

Fulton plays an NCMC game at Hannibal at 6 p.m. Thursday. The Lady Hornets lost to the Lady Pirates 57-49 on Jan. 23 in Fulton.
