Two North Callaway wrestlers advance to state championships

VERSAILLES, Mo. - Freshman Jadon Henry and junior Chad Maupin qualified for the state championships for the North Callaway Thunderbirds at the Class 1, District 2 championships Saturday.

Henry (42-7) finished second at 132 pounds after falling in a 9-6 decision to Seneca sophomore Dayton Fields (46-4) in the title match. Maupin (41-6) took third place at 152 pounds after winning by injury default over Knob Noster sophomore Stevie Elwell (12-2).

Both Henry and Maupin will be making their first trip to the Class 1 state championships, which begin Thursday morning at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.

North Callaway was 10th as a team with 50.5 points at the District 2 championships. Seneca collected the team title with 232 points, while Buffalo came in second with 191 and host Versailles was a distant third with 139.
