Prep Baseball: Father Tolton 5, North Callaway 1

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The North Callaway Thunderbirds' nine-game winning streak came to a halt as the Tolton Trailblazers broke a 1-all tie with four runs in the bottom of the third inning Monday night.

North Callaway (10-6) - which was limited to five hits - produced its lone run in the top of the first. Senior third baseman JT Higgins drew a leadoff walk and later came around to score on junior first baseman Clark Zerr's single.

Tolton (5-7) tied the game with a run in the second and then went in front to stay with its outburst in the third.

Zerr finished 2-for-3.

Junior starter Sam Althiser surrendered five earned runs on just five hits in six innings to suffer his first loss of the season for the Thunderbirds. Althiser (4-1) walked four, hit two batters and struck out three.

North Callaway will try to get back on track when it travels to Community R-6 for an Eastern Missouri Conference matchup at 5 p.m. today. There will only be a varsity game.
