Golf: Fulton's Franklin logs medalist honors

Senior Isaac Franklin achieved medalist status as the Fulton Hornets (202) came in a stroke behind Eugene (201) in Monday's triangular at Tanglewood Golf Course. Russellville finished third with a 242.

Franklin posted a 38 to direct Fulton.

"Isaac is improving at the right time," Hornets head coach Pat Kelley said. "He had been struggling here and there, but he was able to put everything together."

Sophomore Erin Brady chipped in with a 49 for Fulton, while sophomore Ashton Hartman tallied a 57. Freshman Brooke Whyte added a 58.

In a quad meet at The Club at Old Hawthorne in Columbia last Thursday night, Franklin logged a 92 as Fulton took third place with a 438 team total. Centralia and California tied for first place with a pair of 358s, while Mexico was fourth with a 473.

Hartman also supplied a 107 for the Hornets, while Whyte had a 109. Sophomore Andrew Bauermeister finished with a 130.

Centralia's Nathan Pace clinched medalist honors with an 82.

Fulton competes in the North Central Missouri Conference championships at Indian Foothills Golf Course in Marshall at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
