Softball: New Bloomfield 9, Linn 1

LINN, Mo. - Senior left fielder Macey Schuster and sophomore starter Kaylee Beck both drove in two runs as New Bloomfield stayed perfect in the SMC in Tuesday night's battle between Lady Wildcats.

Beck also scattered three hits and struck out 11 to earn the complete-game victory as New Bloomfield improved to 14-1 on the season and 6-0 in the Show-Me Conference. Beck, who walked none, lost her shutout when Linn scored its only run in the top of the seventh inning.

New Bloomfield put up a run in the bottom of the first, four more in the third, one apiece in the fourth and fifth, and two in the sixth.

Beck finished 2-for-4 and Schuster went 1-for-3 with a triple and scored a run as New Bloomfield accumulated 14 hits. Sophomore designated player Mackenzie Garrett was also 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and two runs scored, while junior catcher Shelby Ruppel finished 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and scored twice.

Senior third baseman Kate Baxter went 3-for-5 with a double and three runs scored for the Lady Wildcats and senior first baseman Madison Love was 2-for-4 with an RBI and scored a run.

New Bloomfield plays at Calvary Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. today.
