Volleyball: North Callaway takes third at Chamois Tournament

CHAMOIS, Mo. The North Callaway Ladybirds took third place at the Chamois Tournament after sweeping the host Lady Pirates on Saturday.

North Callaway (7-11-1) went to the third-place match after going 1-1-1 in pool play. Each match lasted two sets.

During pool play, the Ladybirds swept Chamois, tied the Linn Lady Cats - as both teams won a set apiece - and were swept by the Owensville Dutchgirls.

Throughout the tournament, junior setter Allyson Eichman tallied 48 assists and 10 aces, junior outside hitter Nicole Emmons totaled 47 digs and senior middle hitter Colleen Meffert recorded 23 kills and 43 digs.

"The girls did a great job on Saturday," North Callaway head coach Jessica Hager said. "We had a chance to play some teams we don't get to see in our regular season and did well competing with them."

On Thursday, the Ladybirds defeated Bowling Green Lady Bobcats in an Eastern Missouri Conference match 16-25, 25-16, 25-23. Eichman had a team-high 10 assists, Emmons recorded a team-high 18 digs and junior outside hitter Sydney Harrison had 17 digs.

North Callaway plays at Mexico at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
