Beck, Lady Wildcats blank Lady Bulldogs in 4-0 SMC win

MOKANE, Mo. - New Bloomfield sophomore starter Kaylee Beck threw a four-hit shutout and struck out 10 as the Lady Wildcats tripped the South Callaway Lady Bulldogs in a 4-0 Show-Me Conference victory Thursday night.

Beck walked just one as New Bloomfield improved to 10-1 overall and stayed perfect in the SMC at 5-0. The Lady Wildcats tallied single runs in the first and third innings, and sealed the win with two runs in the seventh.

Junior shortstop Madi Craighead was 3-for-4 with a run batted in as New Bloomfield collected eight hits. Sophomore designated player Mackenzie Garrett finished 2-for-3 with a triple, an RBI and a run scored, while senior first baseman Madison Love went 2-for-3 and scored once.

Senior third baseman Kate Baxter was also 1-for-4 with a triple and scored a run.

Senior catcher Nicole Horstman finished 2-for-3 for South Callaway (8-8, 3-2), while senior designated player Jordan Killion and freshman Raeghan Meyer were both 1-for-3 with a double.

Senior starter Konnor Arrowood went the distance in taking the loss for the Lady Bulldogs. Arrowood gave up four runs - only one earned - on seven hits, struck out six and walked two.

The Lady Bulldogs host their South Callaway Tournament on Saturday. South Callaway squares off in its first game against California at 8:30 a.m., while New Bloomfield opens against Mark Twain at 10.
