Cross Country: Gaines, Fulton boys win Hannibal meet

HANNIBAL, Mo. - Junior Mason Gaines took individual honors with a time of 17 minutes, 24.95 seconds as the Fulton Hornets secured the team title at the Frank Lemons Invitational on Thursday.

Gaines was one of five medalists for Fulton. Junior Nathan Quick was next in sixth place in 18:27.47, sophomore Brock Fisher came in seventh in 18:36.52, senior Tanner Steffen was eighth in 18:42.04 and junior Gabe Luebbert finished 10th in 19:02.94.

In the varsity girls' division, sophomore Molly Huff placed 29th in 25:14.13 to pace Fulton. Huff was followed by junior Adrea Shadbolt (40th, 26:40.89), sophomore Mary Schnoebelen (45th, 27:08.83), sophomore Anne Bonderer (50th, 27:44.95), and junior Olivia Rice (59th, 31:35.10).

Freshman Alex Armstrong was the individual winner for the Hornets in the junior varsity boys' division. Senior Jared Eliuk, junior Cameron Peterson and senior Brenden Dungan also finished in the top 10. Their times were not available.

Also medalling for the Lady Hornets in the junior varsity girls' division were freshmen Caitlin Sievert, Alexis Martin and Ainsley Bobbitt. Their times were also not available.

Medalling for Fulton in the middle school girls' division was Madison Dyro, who took sixth in 11:47.96. Maggie Larson finished 29th in 13:38.74.

Placing for the Hornets in the middle school boys' division were Clement Mahoro (26th, 11:38.81), Walter Larson (31st, 11:44.37), Jesse Peterson (39th, 12:03.52), Xandra Noel (43rd, 12:17.16), and Mason Crane (45th, 12:25.88).

Fulton's varsity teams host the North Central Missouri Conference championships at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
