Kitchens, Wildcats crush Calvary Lutheran in opener

NEW BLOOMFIELD, Mo. - New Bloomfield junior forward Jak Kitchens erupted for 35 points and 24 rebounds in Tuesday night's season opener, powering the Wildcats to an 86-66 blitz of Calvary Lutheran.

New Bloomfield broke a 15-all tie by outscoring Calvary 30-15 in the second quarter to open up a 45-30 lead at the break. The Wildcats took a 64-46 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Kitchens guided four players in double figures for New Bloomfield. Junior guard Kyle Emerson also supplied 16 points, sophomore guard Andrew Powell followed with 13 and sophomore guard Bailey Crane contributed 10.

Luke Allen paced Calvary with 20 points.

The Wildcats are the top seed for next week's 78th-annual Tipton Tournament and will face the No. 8 seed, Tipton's junior varsity, in first-round play at 9 p.m. Monday.
