Fulton makes Class 4 sectional in 3 track and field events

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - Junior Tanner Steffen advanced to sectional competition for the Fulton Hornets by taking third place in the 110-meter hurdles (16.2 seconds) at the Class 4, District 4 championships Saturday.

Also moving on for Fulton at Westminster Christian Academy were sophomore Kate Pani, fourth in the girls' long jump (16 feet, 7 inches), and junior Jared Eliuk - fourth in the boys' 400 (:52.4).

"Kate and Tanner both ran and jumped career-bests, and that was really encouraging," Fulton head coach Jim Menderski said. "Kate got in on her last jump, and had to have her best jump of the season - it was incredibly thrilling.

"It was also good to see Jared match up with runners from some of the larger schools in the St. Louis area."

Steffen, Pani and Eliuk will compete in the Class 4 sectional championships in Mexico next Saturday.
