Withers to make third trip to state golf meet

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. - New Bloomfield junior Gannon Withers will be returning to the state championships for a third straight year after tying for seventh place in the Class 1, Sectional 1 championships at The Oaks at Tan-Tar-A on Monday.

Withers - who shot an 11-over par 81 to finish in a tie with Advance's Carson Miles - will compete next Monday and Tuesday at the Class 1 state championships at Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa. Withers medalled at last year's state championships by ending up in a three-way tie for 10th place.

Taylor advance to state

EUGENE - Junior Blake Parker and senior Logan Taylor qualified for the Class 2 state championships for the Bulldogs by finishing 12th and 16th, respectively, in the Sectional 2 championships Monday at Redfield Golf Course.

Parker will be making his first appearance at state after finishing in a four-way tie for 12th place with an 11-over par 83. Taylor, meanwhile, followed with an 84 and will be going back to the state championships for a second straight year.

The Class 2 state championships will be next Monday and Tuesday at Sedalia Country Club. Taylor finished 67th at last year's state championships.

North Callaway junior Tayler Vaughn placed 47th with a 108 at the Sectional 2 championships Monday.
