Boys' Basketball: Community R-6 40, Missouri School for Deaf 36

LADDONIA, Mo. - The MSD Eagles were outscored by the Community R-6 Trojans 8-4 in overtime in Monday night's season-opening loss.

Missouri School for the Deaf led 32-23 with 3 minutes left in regulation, but Community R-6 rallied with nine unanswered points to tie the game and force the extra period.

The Eagles were up 5-4 after one quarter, but were outscored by the Trojans 9-7 in the second quarter and trailed 13-12 at halftime. MSD outscored Community 10-5 in the third quarter to take a 22-18 advantage.

Senior point guard Ste'Quan Scott topped the Eagles with 13 points. Freshman center Mikal Mierwether provided 12 points and six rebounds, while senior forward Scotty Percy tallied 11 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Blaze Esconilln directed the Trojans with 15 points and Danny Kuda added 11.

MSD plays at Vienna at 6 p.m. Thursday.
