Boys' Basketball: Fulton 52, Clopton 42

MONTGOMERY CITY, Mo. - Junior forward Cameron Vaughn scored a game-high 21 points and pulled down 12 rebounds to help the third-seeded Fulton Hornets beat the No. 4 Clopton Hawks in the third-place game of the Montgomery County Tournament on Saturday.

Fulton (3-1) led 11-9 after the first quarter and outscored Clopton 19-1 in the second to stretch its lead to 30-10 at halftime. The Hawks outscored Fulton 18-6 in the third period to cut the Hornets' lead to 36-28.

"We had a big second quarter," Fulton head coach Justin Gilmore said. "That's when we decided to really put our foot down and play some defense. It was a collective team effortWe shot a lot in the paint and we tried to get easier shots down low and that paid off for us."

Senior forward Justin Adams tallied 11 points and nine rebounds for Fulton (3-1). Junior guard Makygh Galbreath earned all-tournament honors.

Landon Hall led Clopton with 12 points.

Fulton hosts a North Central Missouri Conference game against Marshall at 6 p.m. Friday.
