College women's golf: No. 22 William Woods drops opener to No. 9 Washington

NEW BLOOMFIELD - Sophomore Maria Zrodowska shared medalist honors by shooting a 3-over par 75 as the Lady Owls bowed to the Lady Bears in the season-opening I-70 Dual on Saturday at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club.

Washington University - ranked ninth in NCAA Division III - finished with a 26-over 314 team total. William Woods University - ranked No. 22 in NAIA - followed with a 329.

Senior Lucy Matthews came in fourth with a 79 for the Lady Owls, while sophomore Paige Hawkins was 10th with an 85. Sophomore Krystal Burgtorf took 12th with a 90 and sophomore Jennah Schell was 13th with a 92.

William Woods competes Sept. 9-10 at the Missouri Valley Invitational in Marshall.
