College indoor track and field: William Woods' Eliuk wins 400 in opener at Mizzou

COLUMBIA - Junior Jared Eliuk, a Fulton graduate, prevailed in the men's 400 meters in 51.48 seconds as the Owls kicked off their indoor season at the Mizzou Holiday Opener on Friday.

William Woods University junior Cole Schlief came in fourth in the long jump at 6.59 meters.

In the women's division, William Woods senior Megan Van Harn triumphed in the 800 in 2:30.27 and took fourth in the shot put at 12.68.

Freshman Nia Hawkins set a school record for the Lady Owls by finishing second in the long jump at 5.17. Hawkins was also fourth in the 200 in :27.62.

Junior Kimi Putnam came in second in the mile in 5:56.83 and second in the 3,000 in 11:58.87 for William Woods. Sophomore Hannah Ehlinger took fourth in the high jump at 1.60.

William Woods competes at Monmouth (Ill.) College on Saturday, Jan. 18.
