College softball: William Woods 5-5, Greenville (Ill.) 8-1

GREENVILLE, Ill. - Senior first baseman Emily Robinett drove in three runs and junior starter Madison Ausfahl tossed a five-hitter in the second game as the Lady Owls split a nonconference doubleheader against the Lady Panthers on Wednesday night.

Robinett was 1-for-4 with a three-run double in the top of the fifth inning as William Woods University (19-22) logged seven hits. Junior left fielder Anna Counts went 3-for-4 with a run scored and senior center fielder Emma Walker finished 1-for-3 with a double, an RBI and scored a run.

Ausfahl (7-12) - a North Callaway graduate - allowed an unearned run and struck out two.

Sophomore third baseman Celeste Sermeno was 2-for-4 with three RBI to spark the Lady Owls' 10-hit attack in the opener. Robinett went 3-for-4 and scored a run, while freshman designated player Hanna Knipp - also a North Callaway graduate - finished 1-for-4 with two RBI.

Freshman catcher Chyann Hockett was 2-for-4 with a run scored and sophomore right fielder Devyn Burton went 1-for-4 and scored twice.

William Woods junior starter Brittany Roady went the distance in suffering the loss. Roady (10-7) surrendered eight runs - seven earned - on 10 hits, struck out three and walked three.

The Lady Owls end the regular season with an American Midwest Conference doubleheader at Park University at noon Saturday.
