College softball: Lindenwood-Belleville 11-14, Westminster 0-5

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - The Lady Blue Jays combined to commit six errors and had their four-game winning streak halted after being swept by the Lady Lynx in a nonconference doubleheader Monday.

Westminster College managed only two hits in being shut out in the first game. Junior catcher Hannah Hirschvogel singled in the top of the second inning and sophomore center fielder Emily Holloway doubled in the third.

Junior starter Katie Price lasted just 1 1/3 innings in being tagged with the loss for the Lady Blue Jays. Price (2-6) surrendered six earned runs on six hits and walked one.

Freshman left fielder Susan Buchanan went 1-for-2 with a three-run home run in the second as Westminster (10-14) logged 10 hits in the nightcap. Junior shortstop Taylor White finished 3-for-3 with a run scored and freshman designated player Lauren Huskey was 1-for-2 with an RBI and scored a run.

Freshman starter Elizabeth Davis also made it through only 1 1/3 innings to suffer the loss for the Lady Blue Jays. Davis (2-1) gave up four earned runs on three hits, struck out three and walked one.

Westminster returns to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a doubleheader at Fontbonne University in St. Louis at 3 p.m. today.
