College Softball: William Woods splits with Lindenwood-Belleville

BELLEVILLE, Ill. - Senior center fielder Emma Walker produced three hits and drove in four runs in the nightcap as the William Woods Lady Owls earned a split with the Lindenwood-Belleville Lady Lynx in Saturday's American Midwest Conference doubleheader.

William Woods improved to 16-21 on the season and 9-11 in the AMC. Lindenwood-Belleville is now 24-20 overall and 14-6 in the AMC.

Walker finished 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a two-run double to fuel the Lady Owls' nine-run outburst in the top of the third inning in the second game. Senior shortstop Ari Arnold was 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored to help power William Woods' 15-hit rampage.

Junior designated player Madison Ausfahl - a North Callaway graduate - went 2-for-3 with two RBI and scored a run. Senior second baseman Dacrie Depping - a Fulton graduate - finished 1-for-3 with two RBI and a run scored.

Junior starter Brittany Roady went the distance to log the win for the Lady Owls. Roady (10-6) surrendered three earned runs on six hits, struck out two and walked two.

Arnold was 2-for-4 with an RBI as William Woods collected 10 hits in the first game. Senior first baseman Alli Massey and junior left fielder Anna Counts were both 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored.

Ausfahl (6-12) threw a complete game in being tagged with the loss. She gave up five runs - four earned - on 11 hits, struck out three and walked one.

The Lady Owls hosted a rescheduled AMC doubleheader against Harris-Stowe State University on Monday. Results were not available at press time.
