Freshman Maria Zrodowska secured the individual championship with a 9-over par 153 (76-77) to guide the fifth-ranked William Woods University women to a 32-stroke win for the team title in their own William Woods Fall Invitational on Tuesday at Tanglewood Golf Course.
Meanwhile, sophomore Tom North captured the men's individual championship with a 1-over 145 (73-72) as No. 10 William Woods rallied to clip Columbia College by a shot for the team title.
Junior Lucy Matthews took second place with a 156 (78-78) for the William Woods women, who triumphed with a 53-over 629 total (317-312). Columbia College was a distant second with a 661.
Senior Kelsey Moreland came in third with a 158 (82-76) for the Lady Owls, while freshman Krystal Burgtorf tied for seventh with a 162 (81-81). Sophomore Maylie Holt tied for ninth with a 163 (82-81).
Senior Tyler Fieser tied for fourth with a 147 (74-73) as the William Woods men narrowly prevailed with a 587 score (295-292). The Owls scrambled to edge second-place Columbia College's 588.
Freshman Jakub Dymecki (75-73) and sophomore Scott Young (74-74) shared ninth place with a pair of 148s for William Woods. Sophomore Logan Smith tied for 12th with a 149 (74-75).
The Owls play in Oklahoma City University's Mid-South Invitational starting Monday at Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, Kansas.
The Lady Owls play in the Cougar Classic on Monday, Oct. 1, at Columbia Country Club.
