Lyon College (2-3-1) - playing its AMC opener - broke the scoreless deadlock on Judith Flores' goal in the 82nd minute.
William Woods University suffered the slim loss despite owning a 20-8 advantage in overall shots, including 7-2 in shots on goal. Both teams had a corner kick.
Junior goalkeeper Taylor Hoeltke finished with one save for the Lady Owls.
