Volleyball: Westminster 3, Fontbonne 1

ST. LOUIS - The Lady Blue Jays stayed unbeaten in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 25-17, 17-25, 28-26 and 25-17 triumph over the Lady Griffins on Wednesday night.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Westminster College, which improved to 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the SLIAC. Fontbonne University fell to 1-3 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.

Junior setter Teresa Becker and sophomore middle blocker Natalie Needy logged 12 kills apiece to guide the Lady Blue Jays. Senior libero Bridget Ringwald paced Westminster with 18 digs, while Becker and senior opposite player Micha Frasher both had 10.

Freshman setter Jill Reando passed out 32 assists.

The Lady Blue Jays open play in the Knox (Illinois) College Tournament today against host Knox at 2 p.m. and Monmouth (Illinois) at 6. On Saturday, Westminster faces Olivet (Michigan) at 9 a.m. and Illinois College at 3 p.m.
