Women's soccer: William Woods 1, Missouri Baptist 1

The Lady Owls' American Midwest Conference opener with the Lady Spartans ended in a double-overtime tie Tuesday night at Firley Field.

Missouri Baptist University (0-4-2) scored first on Miranda Pratt's unassisted goal in the 56th minute. William Woods University (2-4-1) was able to pull even and force overtime when senior defender Shelby Scanlan scored off an assist from freshman forward McKenzie Gourley in the 86th minute.

The Lady Owls outshot the Lady Spartans 28-10, including a commanding 15-3 margin in shots on goal. William Woods also had a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.

Junior Taylor Hoeltke (45 minutes) and freshman Abbey West (65 minutes) each had a save in goal for the Lady Owls. West surrendered Missouri Baptist's score.

William Woods plays at AMC opponent Lyon (Arkansas) College at 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
