Men's soccer: William Woods 1, Missouri Baptist 0

Freshman forward Billy Nzojyibwami was responsible for the game's only goal as the Owls started American Midwest Conference play with a shutout of the Spartans on Tuesday night at Firley Field.

William Woods University - which is 4-0-2 in its last six games - improved to 4-2-2 overall. Missouri Baptist University fell to 3-3-1.

Nzojyibwami supplied the Owls with the only goal they would need when he scored off an assist from junior defender Tres Caroo in the 25th minute.

William Woods owned a decisive 22-1 advantage in shots, including 10-1 in shots on goal. The Owls had all seven of the game's corner kicks.

Freshman goalkeeper Ben Faherty needed just one save to log the shutout.

William Woods travels to Lyon (Arkansas) College for an AMC matchup at 2 p.m. Saturday.
