Women's soccer: Nebraska Wesleyan 2, Westminster 0

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Lady Blue Jays managed just three shots overall, and only one on goal, in Sunday's shutout loss to the Lady Prairie Wolves.

Junior goalkeeper Sarah Cradick recorded seven saves for Westminster College (1-1).

Suzie McDonald (10th minute) and Shannon Jerram (49th) produced goals for Nebraska Wesleyan (2-0). The Lady Prairie Wolves finished with 16 shots overall, including nine on goal.

The Lady Blue Jays had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.

Westminster opened its season Saturday by presenting head coach Wendy Sanchez with her first career victory in a 2-0 triumph against Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

Sophomore forward Natalie Schulte was responsible for the Lady Blue Jays' first goal of the season on an assist from senior midfielder Gracie Koonce in the 13th minute. Schulte then assisted on freshman forward Kate Ponder's goal in the 69th minute.

Cradick came up with one save to earn the shutout for Westminster. The Lady Blue Jays finished with a slight 7-3 edge in overall shots, including 3-1 in shots on goal.

Westminster remains on the road for a matchup at University of the Ozarks (Arkansas) at noon Saturday.
