ST. LOUIS - The Lady Blue Jays had their three-game winning streak halted in a SLIAC overtime loss to the Lady Griffins on Wednesday night.
Daniele Caruso delivered the game-winner on a penalty kick in the 93rd minute for Fontbonne University (10-5-1, 7-0-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference). Westminster College slipped to 8-5-1 on the the season and 4-3-0 in the SLIAC.
"The team fought hard and showed resilience and we left it all on the field," Lady Blue Jays head coach Wendy Sanchez said. "The outcome is only going to further prepare and motivate us."
Westminster was outshot by a 21-7 margin, including 9-4 in shots on goal. The Lady Griffins had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
The Lady Blue Jays travel to Greenville (Illinois) College for their third consecutive SLIAC road game at 4 p.m. Saturday.
