Men's soccer: Westminster 1, Fontbonne 0

ST. LOUIS - Sophomore defender Joshua Udinyiwe's goal with 47 seconds left in the second overtime lifted the Blue Jays to the dramatic SLIAC victory over the Griffins on Wednesday night.

Udinyiwe scored on a header off a corner kick from sophomore forward Justin Gerdiman, sending Westminster College (4-9-1, 4-2-1 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) to its second win in a row. Fontbonne University fell to 7-9-0 overall and 4-3-0 in the SLIAC.

"It was a hard game like it always is against Fontbonne," Blue Jays head coach Adam Galla said. "They have a great work rate and we did a good job of matching that for decent stretches of the game.

"At the end, we took advantage on a set piece and got a huge win against a really good side. This will definitely be a big confidence boost for our guys going forward."

Westminster prevailed despite being outshot 17-12, including 7-6 in shots on goal. The Blue Jays finished with a 7-4 edge in corner kicks.

Westminster junior goalkeeper Connor Bandre tallied seven saves to earn the shutout.

The Blue Jays play their third straight SLIAC road game with a trip to Greenville (Illinois) College at 2 p.m. Saturday.
