College Volleyball: Greenville (Ill.) 3, Westminster 0

GREENVILLE, Ill. - The Lady Blue Jays slipped to 9-4 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference after being swept by the Lady Panthers 25-15, 25-15 and 25-21 on Saturday.

Westminster College (11-9) then followed with a 25-22, 29-27 and 25-16 non-conference loss to St. Mary-Woods.

Sophomore middle blocker Sarah Rivers topped the Lady Blue Jays with 11 kills in the loss to Greenville College (15-9, 11-2 SLIAC). Senior libero Bridget Ringwald posted a team-high 15 digs and sophomore outside hitter Blake Metz contributed 12, while freshman setter Madisyn Matthews paced Westminster with 18 assists.

Ringwald followed with 11 digs against St. Mary-Woods (11-13) to set the Westminster career record with 2,007. She surpassed the previous mark of 1,888 digs, set by Alex Berry in 2012.

Sophomore middle blocker Natalie Needy directed the Lady Blue Jays with 14 kills in the loss to St. Mary-Woods. Matthews handed out 33 assists.

Westminster hosts Fontbonne University in a SLIAC match at 7 p.m. today. The Lady Blue Jays defeated the Lady Griffins 25-17, 17-25, 28-26 and 25-17 on Sept. 12 in St. Louis.
