Volleyball: Lady Owls' season ends in AMC semifinal loss to No. 1 Park

PARKVILLE - The No. 4 seed William Woods University Lady Owls volleyball team's season ended in a 25-14, 25-20 and 25-10 loss to top-seeded and No. 1-ranked Park University in the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament Friday.

William Woods - which was also swept at Park 29-27, 25-22 and 25-16 in a regular-season match Nov. 1 - finished with a 20-16 record.

Sophomore opposite player Kate Doerhoff guided the Lady Owls with 10 kills Friday and sophomore setter Remie Johnson contributed seven. Senior defensive specialist Melanie Kala and sophomore defensive specialist Brooke Reed tallied seven digs apiece, while junior libero Jessica Jensen had six.

Johnson also handed out 13 assists.

In Friday night's other AMC semifinal, No. 3 seed Columbia College swept No. 2 Missouri Baptist University 25-18, 25-23 and 25-17.

Park (29-0) and Columbia (36-3) clashed for the AMC tournament title Saturday afternoon.
