The No. 2 seed Owls surrendered two second-half goals in tumbling to the No. 3 Spartans in the semifinals of the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament Tuesday night.
The game was played at Westminster College's Kent and Judy Mueller Stadium because of wet field conditions at William Woods University's Firley Field.
The Owls — who shut out Missouri Baptist University 1-0 on Sept. 11 in Fulton — finished the season with a 13-4-3 record. William Woods went in front late in the first half Tuesday night on freshman forward Wessel Albers' unassisted goal in the 45th minute.
The Spartans (13-4-3) tied the game at 1-all when Easton Jaromin scored off an assist from Nick Johnson in the 62nd minute. Missouri Baptist then took the lead for good on Victor Rada's unassisted goal in the 72nd minute.
William Woods bowed despite owning a decisive 18-4 advantage in overall shots, including 10-3 in shots on goal. The Owls took all 11 of the game's corner kicks.
Missouri Baptist will host the AMC championship Friday after No. 4 seed Lyon (Arkansas) College upset No. 1 Columbia College 1-0 in Tuesday night's other semifinal.
