Men's basketball: William Woods 72, Grand View (Iowa) 63

COLUMBIA - The Owls wiped out a 16-point halftime deficit by outscoring the Vikings 48-23 in the second half of Friday's comeback win in the Columbia College Classic.

William Woods University was down 40-24 at the break, but shot 56 percent (18-of-32) in the second half to raise its season record to 2-0.

Junior forward David Johnson Jr. supplied a game-high 18 points for the Owls, who shot just 39 percent (26-of-67) overall. Junior guard Austin Curry added 14 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds to help power William Woods to a 48-40 advantage on the boards.

Casey Schlatter countered with 15 points to lead two players in double figures for Grand View University. Landon Rash contributed 11 points as the Vikings shot only 36 percent (24-of-67) as a team.

The Owls wrapped up tournament play against Evangel University late Saturday afternoon. Results were not available at press time.
