Football: Northwestern (Minn.) 20, Westminster 17

The Blue Jays' season ended on a down note when the Eagles pulled off the UMAC victory on Josiah Donat's 16-yard field goal in overtime Saturday at Kent and Judy Mueller Stadium.

Westminster College tied the game at 17-all and forced overtime on senior quarterback Trent White's 27-yard touchdown pass to senior wide receiver Lucas Robinson with 9 minutes, 11 seconds remaining in regulation. The loss halted a two-game winning streak for the Blue Jays, who finished at 3-6 overall and 3-5 in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.

After a scoreless first quarter, Westminster took a 7-0 lead on senior running back Kalyn Davis' 10-yard touchdown run with 12:55 to play in the first half. The Blue Jays carried that advantage into halftime, but the University of Northwestern (4-5, 4-3 UMAC) promptly tied the game when KJ Downey returned the opening kickoff of the third quarter 92 yards for a score.

Westminster went back in front 10-7 on sophomore kicker Brad Hammel's 18-yard field goal with 1:40 left in the third quarter. The Eagles then took their first lead on Payton Bowdry's 44-yard touchdown pass to Damon Clapper with 14:33 to go in the contest.

Donat put Northwestern up 17-10 when he hit a 22-yard field goal with 12:50 remaining.

Davis rushed for a game-high 71 yards on 19 carries as the Blue Jays - who controlled time of possesion 48:52 to 26:18 - produced 324 yards of total offense. Westminster committed five turnovers, including three fumbles.

White completed 14-of-28 passes for 163 yards and was intercepted twice.

The Blue Jays limited the Eagles to 154 yards of total offense and forced two turnovers.
