Cross country: William Woods men, women finish second and third in AMC

ELSAH, Ill. - Sophomore Schuyler Ogden took third in 26 minutes, 12.59 seconds to guide the Owls to a second-place team finish at the American Midwest Conference championships Friday.

In the women's division, freshman Whitneigh Drown came in sixth in 19:56.7 as the Lady Owls finished third overall.

Schuyler Ogden and his twin brother, sophomore Nathaniel Ogden, both qualified for the NAIA national championships. Nathaniel Ogden was a close fourth behind his brother in 26:19.94 as William Woods University logged 49 points.

Drown was one of three runners for the Lady Owls - who accumulated 64 points - to also advance to the national championships. Freshman Alicia Engelbrecht followed Drown in seventh place with a time of 19:58.15, while sophomore Harley Nale was right behind in eighth in 20:07.47.

Sophomore Kimi Putnam took 21st in 21:11.13 for the William Woods women. Sophomore Katie Keath was 22nd in 21:14.16.

Sophomore Ben Farrell finished ninth in 26:55.85 for the William Woods men, while sophomore Cole Koch tied for 13th in 27:45.68. Sophomore Tyler Bossing came in 19th in 28:16.72.

Columbia College pulled off a sweep of the AMC men's and women's team titles with 33 and 37 points, respectively.

The NAIA national championships are Friday, Nov. 16, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
