Women's golf: No. 5 William Woods stays in second at NAIA championships

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - The fifth-ranked Lady Owls maintained second place at the 24th-annual NAIA national championships after shooting 13-over par 301 in Wednesday's second round at PGA National.

William Woods owned a 34-over 610 total and sat just four strokes behind first-place SCAD-Savannah's 606. SCAD-Savannah (Georgia) carded an 18-over 306 on Wednesday.

The Lady Owls have a pair of seniors in position near the top of the individual leaderboard. Nikki Callahan was in second place, only one shot off the lead with a 5-over 149 after shooting a 75 in the second round. Megan Cullen was two strokes back and in a three-way tie for third at 151 after finishing with a 73 on Wednesday.

Senior Katie Warren shot a 76 for William Woods, jumping 14 spots to land in an eight-way tie for 12th with a 154. Senior Fumika Matsumoto moved up seven places and was in a five-way tie for 28th with a 157 after tallying a 78.

Sophomore Lucy Matthews logged a 77 for the Lady Owls and was in a five-way tie for 40th with a 160.

SCAD-Savannah's Maria Paula Otero was the individual leader with a 4-over 148.
