Men's golf: No. 16 William Woods sits in sixth after NAIA third round

SILVIS, Ill. - The No. 16 Owls shot a 1-under 283 total to move up a spot to sixth place after Thursday's third round of the 67th-annual NAIA national championships at TPC at Deere Run.

William Woods University was a combined 9-over 861 after three rounds. The Owls were 13 strokes behind first-place Oklahoma City, which shot an 8-under 276 total Thursday and was positioned at 4-under 848 overall.

Senior Jack Clarkson shot a 3-under 68 on Thursday to spark William Woods, scrambling up 22 places to land in a six-way tie for 13th with an even-par 213 total. Freshman Tom North carded a 1-over 72 and was also tied for 13th.

Senior Will Rushworth finished with a 1-under 70 for the Owls and jumped 27 spots to find himself in a four-way tie for 35th at 218. Junior Tyler Fieser tallied a 5-over 76 and tumbled 20 places to a seven-way tie for 50th at 220.

Freshman Scott Young shot a 2-over 73 and was in a nine-way tie for 73rd at 223.

Dalton State's S.M. Lee posted a 5-under 66 and remained the individual leader with a 10-under 203 total.

The fourth and final round is today.
