Men's golf: No. 16 William Woods slips spot, shares seventh place at NAIA championships

SILVIS, Ill. - The No. 16 Owls shot another 289 total in Wednesday's second round of the NAIA national championships at TPC at Deere Run, but fell one position and were tied for seventh place.

William Woods University's 10-over par 578 total after two rounds had it in a share of seventh place with Wayland Baptist (288-290). Coastal Georgia owned first place with a 3-under 565 (280-285).

Freshman Tom North shot an even-par 71 on Wednesday to pace the Owls, climbing six spots to an eight-way tie for sixth place with a 1-under 141 total. Junior Tyler Fieser's 72 moved him up two places and into a five-way tie for 30th with a 2-over 144.

Senior Jack Clarkson also finished with a 72 for William Woods and jumped eight positions to a seven-way tie for 35th with a 145. Senior Will Rushworth shot a 74, tumbling six spots to a seven-way tie for 62nd with a 148.

Freshman Scott Young slid seven places after finishing with a 75 and was in an 11-way tie for 75th with a 150.

Dalton State's S.M. Lee sat atop the individual leaderboard with a 5-under 137 (69-68).

The Owls tee off in the third round at noon today.
