Men's golf: No. 16 William Woods tied for sixth at NAIA championships

SILVIS - The No. 16 Owls shared sixth place with two other schools after Tuesday's first round of the NAIA national championships at TPC at Deere Run.

William Woods University posted a 5-over par 289 team total and was tied for sixth with Texas Wesleyan and Victoria (BC). Keiser University was in first place with a 5-under 279.

Freshman Tom North was in a nine-way tie for 12th place with a 1-under 70 to guide the Owls. Junior Tyler Fieser was tied for 32nd place with a 1-over 72 for William Woods, while senior Jack Clarkson was a shot back and tied for 43rd with a 73.

Senior Will Rushworth was tied for 56th with a 74 and freshman Scott Young was tied for 68th with a 75.

Keiser's Jack Dyer was the individual leader with a 5-under 66.

The Owls tee off in the second round at 1:20 p.m. today.
