Owls soccer team picked second in AMC

The William Woods University men's soccer team has been selected to finish second in the American Midwest Conference this season in the preseason coaches' poll released Monday.

The Owls finished 13-4 overall and 10-1 in the AMC last season, securing both their first-ever conference regular-season title and their first appearance in the NAIA national tournament. William Woods bowed in the first round to Lindsey Wilson College 5-2.

Columbia College was picked to win the AMC in the preseason poll, followed by the Owls, Hannibal-LaGrange University third and Lindenwood University-Belleville (Illinois) fourth.

Williams Woods opens its 2018 season at home against Central Methodist University at 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 20, at Firley Field.
