Softball: Westminster 11, Blackburn (Ill.) 0

Sophomore starter Katie Price followed up her no-hitter this past week with a perfect game Saturday as the host Lady Blue Jays dismantled the Lady Beavers in the first game of a SLIAC doubleheader.

The victory was the third straight for Westminster College, which raised its season record to 11-12 and stayed unbeaten in the SLIAC at 7-0. Blackburn College tumbled to 11-15 overall and 2-9 in conference play.

Results from the second game of the doubleheader were not available at press time.

After throwing a no-hitter in a 2-0 SLIAC home win over Webster University last Wednesday, Price was spotless in Saturday's opener. She struck out seven in moving her record above the .500 mark to 7-6.

The Lady Blue Jays amassed 17 hits in tallying two runs in the first, five in the second and four in the fourth to end the game on the mercy rule after five innings.

Sophomore second baseman Brooke Laidley went 3-for-3 with two doubles, three runs batted in and three runs scored to fuel Westminster's offensive attack. Price helped herself by going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI, while senior left fielder Amber Tepen finished 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Sophomore designated player Madison Washington and freshman third baseman Samantha Henderson were both 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and a run scored. Sophomore catcher Aubrie Vaughn was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored once.

The Lady Blue Jays continue their SLIAC homestand with a doubleheader against Spalding (Kentucky) University at noon today.
