Softball: William Woods 4-0, Culver-Stockton 0-8

CANTON - Senior starter Allison Waskow tossed a three-hit shutout and junior center fielder Emma Walker had a two-run double as the Lady Owls subdued the Lady Wildcats in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader.

William Woods University, though, ended up with a split after being blanked by Culver-Stockton College on just four hits in the second game. The Lady Owls are now 19-15 on the season and the Lady Wildcats are 18-15.

Waskow issued two walks in the opener to move her season record to 10-7.

Freshman designated player Devyn Burton drove in William Woods' first run with a single in the top of the first. Walker then made it 3-0 with her two-run double to center in the second.

Junior first baseman Alli Massey accounted for the Lady Owls' final run with a solo home run to center in the third.

Walker went 1-for-3 with her two RBI as William Woods piled up 11 hits. Junior shortstop Ari Arnold was 2-for-3 with a double and scored twice, while Burton finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Burton went 2-for-2 in the second game as the Lady Owls managed only four singles. Culver-Stockton scored a run in the first and then erupted for five in the second, ending the game on the mercy rule by putting up two in the fifth.

Senior starter Bre Logan was tagged with the loss for William Woods, allowing six earned runs on three hits in just two innings. Logan (5-6) issued five walks and struck out one.

The Lady Owls travel to Central Baptist (Arkansas) College for an AMC doubleheader at 2 p.m. Friday. William Woods then goes to Lyon (Arkansas) College for a conference doubleheader at noon Saturday.
