College Volleyball: Principia (Ill.) 3, Westminster 2

ELSAH, Ill. - The Westminster College Lady Blue Jays couldn't complete a dramatic rally and suffered their first SLAC loss of the season 25-13, 25-15, 15-25, 22-25 and 15-13 to the Principia Lady Panthers on Tuesday night.

The loss dropped Westminster College to 5-8 overall and 4-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Principia College improved to 10-2 on the season and 3-1 in the SLIAC.

"We were lacking in consistency ," Lady Blue Jays head coach Natalia Koryzna said. "Our serve receive and defense was really good but we struggled offensively.

"We played hard in the fifth (game), but we needed to be more aggressive in the last few points to finish with a win."

Sophomore outside hitter Ashley Kistaitis registered a double-double with 10 kills and 17 digs to guide Westminster, while sophomore setter Teresa Becker also recorded a double-double with 32 assists and 19 digs. Junior libero Bridget Ringwald posted a team-high 23 digs for the Lady Blue Jays.

Freshman outside hitter Allie Kennebeck also provided 18 digs and senior outside hitter Hannah Marshall had 14.

Westminster hosts Blackburn (Illinois) College in a SLIAC match at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 27.
