Cross Country: Owls' Mens team places third, women fail to place at Southern Stampede

JOPLIN, Mo. - The William Woods Owls placed third out of 22 teams in their first 8k of the season at the Missouri Southern Stampede Saturday afternoon.

Freshman Nathaniel Ogden finished 10th overall and led the Owls with a time of 26 minutes, and 23.9 seconds. Freshman Ben Farrell wasn't too far behind at 12th with a 26:36. Senior Kyle Gabrielson finished inside the top 20 at 17 and came in 26:44.1.

Freshman Cole Koch finished at 58th with a 27:54.3 and sophomore Matt Fringer rounded out William Woods' top-five at 68 in 28:08.

On the women's side in the 5k, the Owls failed to place as a team, but had solid individual contributions. Freshman Kimi Putman ran her fastest time of the year with 19:59.7 which was good for 51st. Freshman Katie Keath finished at 134th with a 21:32.6 and freshman Shaley Eichholz finished at 187th with a 23:56.9.

Both teams will compete at the University of Arkansas' Chile Pepper Invite next Saturday.
