Men's Soccer: William Woods 3, Ottawa (Kan.) 1

OTTAWA, Kan. - Three players had goals for the WWU Owls in their nonconference triumph over the Braves on Tuesday night.

Senior forward Rodrigo Alves started the scoring for William Woods University (2-2-2) with a goal in the 7th minute, assisted by senior defender Josh Clark.

Freshman defender Darren Wilson then put the Owls up 2-0 when he scored in the 49th minute off an assist from senior midfielder Matheus Schmid.

Junior midfielder David Marshall supplied William Woods' final goal on an assist from Wilson in the 56th minute.

Ottawa University (1-3-1) avoided a shutout when it scored a goal in the 74th minute.

The Owls owned a 20-11 edge in overall shots, including 12-7 in shots on goal, and an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Freshman goalkeeper Matheus Taraszkiewicz had five saves for William Woods.

The Owls begin American Midwest Conference play against Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis at 5 p.m. Saturday.
