Men's Soccer: William Woods 1, Columbia College 1

The WWU Owls played to a double-overtime tie with the No. 17 Columbia College Cougars in Tuesday night's American Midwest Conference confrontation at Firley Field.

The draw stopped an eight-game winning streak for William Woods University, now 9-2-3 on the season and 6-0-1 in the AMC. Columbia is 10-2-1 overall and also 6-0-1 in conference play.

The Cougars quickly got on the scoreboard on Nick Horne's goal in the 5th minute. The score remained that way until the Owls rallied late, tying the game at 1-all when sophomore defender Alberto Pitarch scored in the 89th minute off an assist from sophomore midfielder Victor Faure.

William Woods outshot Columbia 22-12 overall, including a narrow 6-5 edge in shots on goal. The Cougars owned a slight 11-10 advantage in corner kicks.

Senior goalkeeper Conor Cable finished with three saves for the Owls.

William Woods remains at home for an AMC game against Lyon (Arkansas) College at 3 p.m. Saturday.
