Lady Owls volleyball team stumbles in AMC semifinals

PARKVILLE - The William Woods University Lady Owls volleyball team was bounced from the American Midwest Conference postseason tournament semifinals after a five-set thriller with No. 7 Columbia College Friday night.

William Woods (26-9) dropped the initial set 25-20, but stormed back to take the following two games 25-16 and 25-23. However, Columbia would get the last laugh, holding off William Woods 25-20 and 15-10 in the final two sets.

Junior outside hitter Tory Wiley paced the Lady Owls with 11 kills, while freshman outside hitter Kate Doerhoff chipped in 10. Senior setter Brittney Engelbrecht dished out 35 assists and freshman libero Brooke Reed poured in 23 digs.
