Women's Golf: William Woods takes eighth at NAIA championships

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - The WWU Lady Owls tallied a 92-over par 956 total (323-314-319) to finish eighth as the NAIA national championships concluded Friday on the Squire Course at PGA National.

William Woods University came in 31 shots behind Oklahoma City University, which won the national title with a 925 score (308-312-305). Embry Riddle (Arizona) was second with a 933 and South Carolina Beaufort finished third with a 934.

Junior Katie Warren directed the Lady Owls by tying for 17th place with a 19-over 235 (75-78-82). Junior Megan Cullen tied for 26th with a 238 (84-78-76) and junior Fumika Matsumoto tied for 39th with a 240 (83-77-80).

Freshman Lucy Matthews tied for 67th with a 249 (81-87-81) for William Woods. Junior Nikki Callahan finished 73rd with a 251 (84-81-86).

Indiana Tech's Courtney Dye secured the individual national championship with a 6-over 222 (72-79-71).
